Planning to say ‘I Do’? Better read this!
We’re getting married soon. Really? When? Not too sure, but we’re engaged. Do you have Wills? Section 20 of the Wills Act states that ‘every will made by a man or woman is revoked by his or her marriage’ unless it is made ‘in contemplation of marriage …’. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t set the date yet, you should make an appointment to see your solicitor to update your Will to ensure that all of your testamentary wishes will remain in force after your marriage. When you see your solicitor you will also have the opportunity to discuss asset protection in the event that you separate either before or after you marry.
An experienced solicitor at Bambrick Legal will be able to assist you to ensure that your assets are protected for you and the benefit of your testamentary beneficiaries.
