Visa options for children

Would you like to bring your child to Australia?  You may be able to sponsor your child if you are an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident.  Your child may be eligible for a child visa if they are under 18 years of age and are not married, engaged to be married, or in a defacto relationship.  In certain circumstances, a person over the age of 18 years may be described as a child.

There are many options available to bring your child to Australia.  The visa options vary for applicants applying onshore and offshore.  If your child is applying for a child visa in Australia (onshore), they may apply for the:

  •         Child (Permanent) (Subclass 802);
  •         Orphan Relative (Permanent) (Subclass 837); or
  •         Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445).

If your child is applying from outside Australia (offshore), they may apply for the:

  •         Child Permanent (Subclass 101);
  •         Orphan Relative (Permanent) (Subclass 117);
  •         Adoption Visa (Permanent) (Subclass 102); or
  •         Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445).
