International Pre-Nuptial Agreements
If you and your partner separate and either or both of you hold assets in both Australia and overseas, it can be a very costly exercise to identify and value the overseas assets and determine how they should be dealt with.
A Pre-Nuptial Agreement can be made at any time before, during or after commencing a de facto relationship or marriage. Pre-Nuptial Agreements usually set out what will happen to your property if you and your partner/spouse separate and can even provide terms of how you will manage your relationship and finances while you are together.
If you and your partner have assets and property in more than one country, it is possible to work with lawyers from that country to create an Agreement that is binding in both Australia and overseas.
